Soeurs Mode // Sisters in Fashion

Transparency is important to us so we want you to know exactly where your products come from, how they're made and if any potentially irresponsible or unethical practices occur throughout the process.

We want you to have absolute reassurance that what you are wearing is not only a great design, but it has come from ethical and responsible sources and contains absolutely no toxins, chemicals or animal by-products.

Most of our garments are produced in Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certified factories which ensures that strict protocol is adhered to in the creation process of these products.

WRAP is a globally recognised, independent third party certifying body whose mission is to promote ethical, humane, and lawful conditions and practices in all manufacturing facilities.

Companies accepted into the WRAP organisation go through an extensive application process in which manufacturing facilities, working environments, and workers’ rights are inspected and approved by the WRAP association. WRAP certifications are awarded based upon both internationally and nationally accepted humane workplace standards, local laws, and ethical manufacturing regulations.

We only use water based inks on our products for many reasons:

  • As a compound, water-based ink is much more gentle on the environment than plastisol ink. It simply doesn't contain any of the toxic chemicals of its plastisol counterparts (no PVC, no phthalates). Plastisol inks, in particular, require lots of harmful solvents to clean down the screens and these all go down the drain, causing harm to aquatic life.

  • Rather than sitting atop the garment, water-based inks seep into the fabric, dying the garment directly. This leaves minimal ‘feel-to-touch’, or in other words, when you touch the print it will feel like it’s almost part of the garment. The ink will stretch and move with the fabric so it won't crack or fade with wear.

We try to minimise the impact we have on the environment in the following ways:

  • All of our packaging is 100% plastic free and recyclable

  • Waste ink is unavoidable, but we dispose of ours responsibly

  • Any waste cardboard and paper is recycled

  • We make to order so we do not create any unnecessary excess products

  • All products that fail quality checks are donated to charity

  • From August 2019, our printing partner are offsetting our Carbon Footprint by funding the planting of trees in the North West of England

We are currently looking to make organic cotton and recycled polyester the main materials for our clothing which isn't yet implemented but is definitely on the agenda for 2020!
